60 Seconds with Jonathan Hoo

„Finance underpins so much of what makes a company successful, providing key insights for decision making and enabling opportunities for growth and expansion.“

1. What’s the headline version of your career so far?

Selling technology during a time when computerisation has shifted from being an expensive, bespoke solution to an essential, everyday service has been an incredible experience. From network multiplexing and virtualisation to cloud computing and now AI and machine learning, these technologies have driven progress in almost every part of our lives. I’ve worked internationally in an industry that provides the infrastructure and security powering the digital economy. What could be better than offering something people genuinely need, and that you truly believe in?

2. What drew you to AtlasEdge — and what excites you most about the role?

The traditional lines between retail and wholesale colocation have become as blurred as the boundary between edge and core computing. New applications that rely on data collected from multiple sources — including consumer endpoints — will drive demand for distributed computing models like never before. AtlasEdge is building and operating data centres in places where supply has typically been scarce and demand is rising fast. With aligned ownership and management, I believe I can bring significant value, particularly in working with large North American hyperscale customers and prospects. The bottom line: AtlasEdge is in the right place at the right time.

3.  What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your sales career?

If you train hard, work with focus and try to be a decent person, you can usually expect a positive outcome. Total control over anything other than your own actions and emotions is an illusion.

4. What’s your view on this moment for the industry?

Technology is influencing every part of life, from business to personal. While many unknowns remain, the fundamentals of digital infrastructure are relatively stable. Providing power, connectivity and secure space in strategic locations will remain a strong business model for years to come. With capital, committed ownership, experienced leadership and operational excellence, AtlasEdge is well placed for what’s ahead.

5.  One thing people might not expect about you?

I played competitive Scrabble for many years and was once ranked 120th in North America. Over the past 12 years, my wife Nikki and I have lived in Toronto, Cincinnati, Phoenix, Seattle, Las Vegas and San Antonio. We also share our home with a small clan of Sphynx cats — one or two of whom may occasionally appear on a Teams call.
